Master Texas Fiddler Comes to Madisonville

In November 2002, we were fortunate to have renowned Texas Fiddler Valerie Ryals O'Brien join us as part of a Community Residency program that was made possible in part by the National Endowment for the Arts and the Texas Commission on the Arts.

The residency was sponsored in partnership between the Madison County Arts council and Texas Folklife Resources, a non-profit organization based in Austin.

Past Events

In the five years since it's inception, The Madison County Arts Council has sponsored a number of events, and we'd like to share a few of the highlights of those occasions with you.

In 2004, the Madisonville Community Theatre produced its first musical production, Annie. In 2005, we produced The Wizard of Oz, and in 2006, we produced Rogers & Hammerstein's Cinderella. You'll find more information and photos from the shows on our Theatre Page.

In October 2005, the Arts Council brought Inca Wyra to the Texas Mushroom Festival. This fascinating South American group agreed to return again in the Spring of 2006. This time they gave an entertaining and educational presentation for the children at Madisonville Intermediate School.
